Pastides Alumni Center, 900 Senate Street, Columbia, SC 29201The 2023 Annual Leadership Summit hosted by the Center for Nursing Leadership at the University of South Carolina, College of Nursing will feature Dr. Erik Martin, President, American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) on Friday, March 24, 2023, 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Pastides Alumni Center, University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina. The Amy V. Cockcroft (AVC) Leadership Fellowship Class of 2022-2023 will present their projects and graduate from the fellowship. The Amy V. Cockcroft Leadership Fellowship Class of 2023 - 2024 will be introduced.Erik Martin, DNP, RN, CENP, FAAN Erik Martin is currently serving as President for the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL). Erik’s service to the board began in 2014 where he was one of the inaugural appointed board members representing “early careerists.” After three years in this capacity Erik was elected to represent Region 5 (Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois) of the country. Erik also served on the Ohio Organization for Nursing Leaderships board, and is currently on the Advisory Board for Nightingale College of Nursing in Ogden, Utah and the University Of Louisville College Of Nursing. Erik has been in the role of Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Norton Children’s in Louisville, Kentucky since 2018. Norton Children’s is the only free-standing pediatric facility and Level I trauma center in the state. Prior to serving in this role he served in a variety of clinical and leadership roles in both adult and pediatric acute care settings. Erik attained his diploma in nursing from Good Samaritan College of Nursing, his Bachelor’s degree from Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, and his Master’s degree from Northern Kentucky University. In 2015 Erik completed his Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Mount Saint Joseph University. His research focused on generational differences and the challenges they pose in recruiting and retaining the next generation of nurse talent into nursing administration.Erik is a 2009 AONL Nurse Manager Fellow and the recipient of the 2016 Pamela Austin Thompson Early Careerist Award and was inducted as a fellow into the Academy of Nursing in October, 2022. Metered parking is also available along the streets around the Alumni Center.Continuing Education: 3.75 hours of Nursing Continuing Education will be offered.
