Press release from the City of Ames: January 8, 2021 Mayor John Haila is looking for Ames residents interested in volunteering their time to serve on a City board or commission. Board and commission members make recommendations to the Ames City Council and offer assistance to the Council in carrying out various forms and functions of city government. There are 18 separate boards and commissions, which focus on distinct issues, programs, or services. "If you are looking for a way to become more involved in our community, volunteering your time to serve on a City of Ames board or commission is an excellent way to do that," said Haila. "With busy schedules, it's not easy to find time to volunteer, so we very much appreciate those residents who are able to make the commitment." Volunteers interested in filling a vacancy have until 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, to complete an application. Visit www.CityOfAmes.org/BoardsAndCommissions for more information about specific boards, applications, and appointment criteria. This press release was produced by the City of Ames.
