Seeking Book Illustrator $100 per page 10-20 pages Deadline: November 30, 2023 Project description: Book Illustrator. (Twenty-minute read. 3500 words.) Family friendly accessible stories about transformation. First tale in short story collection all of which have some significant reference to water or the ocean. I want to say I am seeking textures like watercolors, however, my knowledge of modern artists tools is limited and therefore my scope for imagining modern art is thus limited. I am open to discussing the feeling I want communicated through the artwork, characters personalities and character arcs, scenes, and I am open to talking about different modalities that can be used to achieve the desired effect. Scope: I am honestly not sure how many illustrations exactly that I will require. I imagine 10 - 20 full page illustrations. Some pages will be a single character and other pages will be landscape and characters. Title: Matu and the Gardener. In English and Spanish. Story about a pragmatic Crab who is swept up by a storm at sea and is carried away to a new land. When he arrives, he finds comfort in a relationship he builds with a sapling mangrove tree that has been uprooted by the storm as well. Crab is determined to find a safe planting ground for the sapling and discovers that in time, bringing nourishing soil to the sapling gives him a sense of purpose even though he has lost all that he has known. Just as Crab has made peace with his ever transforming life, another storm passes the island and brings a little pink friend, Matu, whom Crab comes to love. Matu and the Gardener is a love story about the lost and found pieces of ourselves. Through adventure and adversity, rigidity becomes gentleness and dullness becomes unbridled joy, drawing the reader in to fall in love with Matu and the Gardener, and what it is to be a creature.
