Letters have been sent since the creation of writing = even before paper letters were sent on clay tablets written in cuneiform and other alphabets. Samples of these letters will be read aloud at the start of this event and you can laugh at the fact that humanity has not changed, from clay tablets to electronic messaging - we send the same thoughts and sharing of life and concerns with those in our lives.
But it rarely happens that we have proof of this human connection anymore. First it was Email and then Facebook, that have stolen from us the chance to hold a physical representation of our loved ones in our hands - in their handwriting sharing their lives with us. Cards, notes, letters - even grocery lists are now electronically shared and deleted quickly to save space.
This event is in honor of those times past and in hopes to spark a bit of revival we will offer pens, paper and envelopes - you will need to have the address and a stamp if it is to be mailed.
