While the epicenter of the industry cluster remains in Kendall Square, the state’s strategy calls for the expansion of lab and manufacturing space throughout the state, with the potential for significant growth in Central MA. Worcester, Marlboro and Devens are already well positioned with leading life science companies in their backyard, while other communities in the region are looking to capitalize on the industry’s westward movement. The advantages for companies to expand in Central Massachusetts are significant, including lower cost of land and facilities and access to more affordable housing for employees.
