February is American Heart Month and there's no better time to consider getting a heart check up. Did you know heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S.? Our physicians at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) want to see you before you have symptoms or a life-changing cardiac event. Join us for one of our Heart Month screenings this February. Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) is hosting a free cardiovascular screening at CIS Breaux Bridge (1451 E Bridge St, Breaux Bridge, LA 70517) on Friday, February 17 from 12:30 - 4:00 p.m. Guests will receive a complimentary Electrocardiogram (EKG) and Blood Pressure screenings. An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. Results will be reviewed on site by nurse practitioner, Patricia Johnson. Risk factors of cardiovascular disease include family history, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.
