As a show of solidarity and presence in our great city, Detroit’s Black-owned and operated arts and cultural spaces are participating in a city-wide project and self-guided tour. Taking place for Black History Month 2023, Sacred Space highlights exhibitions, events, and programming scheduled at each location from February 1 – 28, 2023. Design Studio 6 - Detroit is proud to partner in "Sacred Space" through an art exhibit of collections, memorabilia and artifacts of Charles McGee and local artists' art inspired by the artist's life and work. We will celebrate his legacy and second studio on West McNichols owned by his daughter April. The studio is a sacred space to be shared with local artists and designers to inspire our youth and others in creative pursuits. We ask his friends, former students and the creative community to share their creations and stories for inclusion in an exhibit from February 1 - 25, 2023.
