Hoboken Police Charge Man After Business Is Robbed

HOBOKEN, NJ — Police arrested Angel Sanabria, 18, of Hoboken after midnight on Saturday and charged him with robbery following what they said was an "armed robbery" of a business in the area of Sixth and Washington streets. Police said that at approximately 12:25 a.m., they responded to that section of the city's main street. According to police, "While in route, officers were provided a description of the actor who brandished a [weapon] during the crime then fled south on Washington Street." When Officer Joshua Campoverde arrived, he was told $600 in cash was stolen and around $200 in merchandise. Police said that the victim said that the perpetrator showed what he thought was a black handgun, and threatened him. Police said that while gathering information, Sgt. David DiMartino observed a male fitting the description of the perpetrator walking in the area of Sixth and Grand streets. As DiMartino approached the potential suspect, he noticed he was fumbling something in his jacket pocket, according to police. Dimartino was able to safely stop a male, whom he identified as Angel Sanabria Jr., police said. Police said they recovered the proceeds of the crime, along with a paintball gun. Sanabria was charged with the following: robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, terroristic threats, criminal mischief, and theft. Sanabria was taken to police headquarters and processed. Then, he was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
