Seeking Current/Former Metal Musicians Interested In Unplugged Music

Description

I’ll start by saying that I know that this may seem like a strange ask, but if you’re reading this then maybe you feel the same pull toward something that I do. I’ve been a black and death metal musician for most of my musical life (I’m 35, been playing since I was 12). About ten years ago, I stopped being so interested in playing heavy music, but I never lost interest in what I guess you could call the “vibe” of darker metal music. I don’t want to just take metal songs and play them on acoustic the same way you would on an electric. I’ve heard artists do that and it sounds like garbage. However, there are certain progressions that sound great on an acoustic but they’re underused. I guess you could call this genre “Dark Folk”. That tends to be what I see people calling it. Sometimes it’s long, ritualistic and droning. Sometimes it’s kind of like Celtic music, in that it’s put together more in stanzas than a verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus (etc.) rock or pop song. Either way, it takes you on a journey. No matter what you play, if you come from a background of the darker, more extreme forms of metal and would now be interested in writing unplugged music that still utilized similar progressions but different techniques for getting the feeling across, let me know. Ideally, I’d like to start by working with a percussionist (drum set, frame drum, hand drum, etc.) but I’ll gladly work with someone who plays another unplugged instrument instead. I’m a singer and guitarist. My voice is pretty deep but I have good range. I do clean vocals, vocal distortion (natural, not with an electronic effect), and throat singing. If you play acoustic guitar, banjo, fiddle, any type of drum or percussion, cello, traditional woodwind instruments, or anything else and this sounds like you, let me know. I’ll send you my number and we can chat. Looking forward to connecting.
