Brief introduction:
Across the U.S., there are over 61 million people with a disability. Of that number, 73% do not use assistive devices like wheelchairs or walkers, and 96% of Americans with a chronic illness suffer from an invisible one. These numbers demand a new understanding of disability.
If you have any type of disability, then this group is for you!
Whether you live with a visible or non-visible disability yourself, know someone who does, or you simply want to help create a more accessible and equitable environment for those of us who do, there are a few things we can do together as a community to improve the lives of those of us around us. This group will provide meaningful support and empowerment to each other, while bridging the gap between the non-disabled and disabled communities on campus.
