Join The Urban Wildlife Haven as we share our love for the outdoors & plant knowledge with you. Participants will journey on a guided sensory plant walk where they will share knowledge about: The history, culture, and traditional medicinal properties of various plants along the trail. To identify plants that rather be left alone i.e. they are poisonousOur main goals are to combat winter blues, reconnect to nature, and form community while exploring the vast outdoor world. We'd love to meet you! In case of bad weather, our reschedule date will be February 11th. Trail Details to Consider: Mainly paved with some unpaved partsReviewed as gentle to moderate trailDuration will be 1hour out and back trail3.2 mile nature walkPlenty of parking and food options NOT ADA or wheelchair accessibleParking: The trail entrance is located behind the Bowman Curve II shopping center which includes Lazy Pete's Fish and Shrimp, Yehmon, Comet Cleaners, and other stores. We advise that you park in the shopping center on the side where Comet Cleaners is and we will walk to the trail from there. Parking is free. Post-trail: After we finish with the trail we hope to share a meal at Yehmon for a post-trail refuel. Meet the Event Coordinator and Quilter Kendra Danielle (she/her) is the quilter of The Urban Wildlife Haven, a startup business centering African descendant traditions, Indigenous perspectives, and practices that honor the sacred stewardship between people and the land . We offer nature-based education, host nature-centered gatherings and are a budding farm committed to educating people on how to decolonize their daily interactions with nature. A native of Little Rock, AR and a global nomad, Kendra is inspired by her desire to help heal the relationship between people and the natural environment. By trade she is a certified nature educator, urban farmer, apiarist, farm animal specialist, plant medicine apprentice, curator of healing spaces for Queer, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (QBIPOC) and artist.
