SAN MATEO, CA — Construction crews have completed part of the Wastewater Treatment Plant extension project, San Mateo officials aid. "We have completed the first and longest duration of pile driving efforts, with over 1,500 installed between June through" the end of December, city officials said in a statement. Good news! Our Wastewater Treatment Plant crew has installed over 1,500 piles – but we're not done, yet! Pile driving returns this summer. TY neighbors -- we're almost done! Upcoming construction activities include removal of the temporary sound wall located on the west side of the site and installation of two tower cranes. The tower cranes will be assembled and erected in early January of 2021. City officials said the public may notice the tower cranes spinning in the wind when not in operation. This process is called "weathervaning," which allows the tower cranes to move freely with the wind, and prevents pressure and force that would otherwise cause excessive pressure on the structure.
