Emergency Medical Services Providers in New London County are invited to join us for this free workshop reviewing the overdose crisis in our community and ways EMS Providers can improve treatment outcomes for people who use drugs. Doors open at 5:30; program begins at 6. Dinner will be provided.
The workshop will be presented by Stephen Murray, MPH, MRP, who recently retired as a Lieutenant at a regional ambulance service in Western Massachusetts, and had served as a first responder since 2013, working both as a firefighter and paramedic. Currently an overdose researcher at Boston Medical Center focusing on the role of public safety/public health partnerships in post-overdose response teams, Stephen shares his lived experience as a person who used drugs and an overdose survivor as well as an EMS Provider.
Stephen provides expert technical assistance around the topics of overdose prevention, emergency medical services and harm reduction to a variety of organizations, including the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission, the City of Northampton, RIZE Foundation, Massachusetts Drug Supply Data Stream, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
This workshop has been approved by the CT Department of Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services for 1.5 credit hours for continuing education credit for Emergency Medical Services Providers.
