This 1.5-2 hour walk will fly by as we move through the oldest part of New York City, and uncover the layers of Black history beneath the surface.
We'll see a number of underground railroad stations, and learn the unique ways each of them operated in secrecy to help escaped slaved to freedom.
We'll learn what life was like through the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries for black people in New York City - what slavery was like, the rebellions against it, the gradual abolishment of it, what its existence elsewhere in America meant for black people in NYC, and the many fights that remained and remain, and shifts that took place after it ended.
We'll learn about the black men and women who defied all the odds to find ways to live, thrive, build businesses, organize, and aid their brothers and sisters.
