Join us on Thursday, March 16th at 6:00 p.m. at the Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences as we crown one of our members with the highest honor a club member can receive, Youth of the Year.
Youth of the Year is the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region's premier youth leadership program, honoring extraordinary young people and their achievements in leadership, service, academic excellence and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle.
This year-round program recognizes, cultivates, and celebrates Club Members' leadership potential. Applicants are required to provide three letters of recommendation that describe their experience and aptitude in terms of leadership, character and service; academic excellence; and healthy lifestyles.
In addition, candidates are also required to write essays about their Club experience, their vision for America's youth, and what they strive to stand for in the minds and hearts of those who know them, i.e., their personal brand as individuals and leaders.
After the preliminary judging of exceptional candidates, four finalists were chosen to recite a speech and interview with a panel of judges. From there, the 2023 Youth of the Year will be chosen and will compete at the state level.
