Daniel Calzadilla, beekeeper at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden will cover the importance of pollinators with a short aside on honey bee swarms and what plants (focusing on natives!) provide forage and habitat for pollinators of all sorts. He'll also be making a special announcement about our upcoming beekeeping certificate program.
Daniel is a Florida native, with a particular affinity and commitment to studying our local ecosystems to preserve and give back to the communities through research, outreach, and engagement. He graduated from FIU in 2018 with a bachelor's in Environmental Studies and Sustainability and a certificate in Agroecology, and he also became a certified beekeeper. His work as a beekeeper goes beyond the apiary, and has become a platform to advocate for all pollinators, their habitats, and biodiversity. He is now a graduate student at UF in their Agronomy program, focusing on Agroecology.
