Organized Crime: The Mexican Mafia is a class designed to teach the basics of investigating organized crime. Students will be taken, step by step, through an investigation of the Mexican Mafia originating in the Los Angeles County Jail. The class focuses on penal code section 186.22, the changes in the law effective January 2022, and how to use it effectively against Organize Crime. This class is not a history lesson, the Mexican Mafia will be used as an example of how to combat any organized crime group, from local street gangs to statewide organized crime syndicates.
