Description

Join us for a presentation from Erinn Andrews (AiP board member) about the gaps she identified in the philanthropic sector during her time running a research lab at Stanford's Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society which she is now trying to address through her own social enterprise, GiveTeam. GiveTeam is a philanthropic planning company that works with financial advisors to help their clients give more, give better, and give now. Financial advisors hire GiveTeam to support their clients (those giving away ~$10K-200K/year) in building a philanthropic strategy and finding organizations to fund based on those priorities--the two points at which donors at that level most often get stuck. Erinn's talk will cover some highlights from her research studies at Stanford on what she learned about donors, nonprofits, and financial advisors. She will outline different donor archetypes, share her insights on what it takes to move donors toward more intentional giving, explain how GiveTeam supports clients, and take members through an interactive exercise that she uses with clients to help them develop a family mission statement. Bio: Erinn is a social entrepreneur and innovator who has been actively engaged in the philanthropic sector for 15 years. Most recently, she led the Effective Philanthropy Learning Initiative at Stanford's Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society (PACS) where she conducted research to understand donor behavior, published resources for high-capacity donors and advisors supporting high-capacity donors, and developed innovative education programs--for donors and financial advisors. Prior to Stanford PACS, Erinn led GuideStar's (now Candid) nonprofit strategy, managing the largest database of nonprofit information in the US. While at GuideStar, she developed and launched the GuideStar bronze, silver, gold, and platinum levels of distinction for nonprofits, encouraging more organizations to self-report qualitative and (standardized) quantitative impact data. Erinn also serves on the national board of International Advisors in Philanthropy. She lives with her family in Menlo Park, CA.
