Join us for our first Employer Network Social for 2023. February's guest speakers include Ashley Shaw and Lara Foster. The social will begin at 8:30 and end at 10:00am at our West Edge Factory location. We will have donuts and coffee to enjoy while we listen to our guest speakers. About our speakers Ashley Shaw is the Workforce and Professional Development Coordinator and Creating Opportunities for Recovery Employment (CORE) Director with Marshall Health within the division of Addiction Sciences. Since operationalizing in 2019, CORE has assisted over 500 individuals in recovery and individuals having other barriers to employment in reaching their educational goals and obtaining employment. In partnership with the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, CORE created and launched the employer toolkit, “Building a Drug-Responsible Workplace” in efforts to assist employers in recruiting and retaining a strong, healthy workforce. Lara Foster is a Transition Agent for Jobs and Hope WV. Jobs & Hope WV is a state-wide, legislatively supported program, aimed at helping West Virginians overcome barriers to employment so they can get back into the workforce. "Our heart is concentrated at folks in recovery and re-entry but we will help anyone with a barrier, if eligible. Our Transition Agents work with participants to identify accessible career pathways, overcome barriers, and navigate educational or training programs, in the hopes that participants can soon provide for themselves, their families, and their communities. Our outreach in events like this Employer Network is aimed at connecting with career employment opportunities for our participants."
