Description

Brown’s career in wine began when he drove West from his hometown of Sumter, South Carolina, and landed a job at a wine store in Calistoga called the All Seasons, which was a tribal gathering spot for Napa’s wine community. Among those he met at the All Seasons was Ehren Jordan, who gave him his first wine-making job as a cellar rat at Turley Cellars, and Fred Schrader, who would become his first major client after he founded Shrader Cellars. In partnership with Schrader, Brown made Cabernets from several plots in the prime To Kalon vineyared in Oakville, earning his first two 100 point scores with the 2002 vintage. That same year he founded Rivers-Marie, with his wife Genevieve—producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as well as Cabernet. In the years since, he has become the most successful and influential winemaker in California, especially renowned for his ability to make supple, voluptuous Cabernets. Thomas has become one of Napa's most accomplished winemakers, handily guiding production of some of the region's most distinctive wines and sought-after brands. The grape he has ridden to stardom is Cabernet Sauvignon, which accounts for 85 percent of the 40,000 cases he oversees, and over the years Brown has made more than 60 Cabernets that earned classic scores from Wine Spectator. Currently working with 45 clients, Brown is responsible for 800 tons of grapes from 325 acres going into some 150 wines, and has even designed several wineries. His list of clients include some of Napas most iconic wineries such as Schrader, Casa Piena, Boar's View, Revana, Thomas Rivers Marie, Tor Kenward, Round Pond, and many many more. Since 2010, Thomas Rivers Brown has amassed quite the reputation for producing more 100 POINT WINES than any other US winemaker! This is event is a free flow wine tasting, so please feel free to show up at your leisure, since there will be plenty of these wines avaible, and will include appatizers.
