HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC POSITION Major Responsibilities: • Primary duties of this role consist of ensuring machines are maintained and safe for our customers • Ability to read written description on Repair Order and determines the most efficient repair procedure • Communicates and provides Shop Manager with accurate and detailed repair description of the cause of failure and the repair procedure(s) and obtain permission to complete diagnosed repairs and/or add additional repairs • Performs test on equipment to assist in problem isolation or to verify repair procedure using the tools and technologies provided to properly log, research, and complete repairs. This includes performing basic diagnostics equipment to detect, troubleshoot and isolate various systems, to include electrical, drive train, HVAC, brake, engine, and suspension, identifies needed repairs and performs corrective action. • Communicates with parts department personnel to obtain or order the parts necessary to repair equipment • Tracks and charges clocked hours to the proper corresponding Repair Order using time awareness for billing to client for service and parts • Conducting preventative maintenance repairs to perform minor repairs and complete component lubrication and replacement, some electrical system repairs, cooling system maintenance diesel engines • Continuously developing your skills in partnership with your manager utilizing Trenchers Plus’s available technician schooling and training with hands on mentoring • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor, including assisting other technicians with repair procedures as needed • Interacts with customers in a professional and positive manner Qualifications • Basic mechanical aptitude preferred, demonstrated problem solving, tool usage, and repair experience • 2-4 years of diesel experience or education Vocational or technical diesel mechanic certification • A valid driver’s license is required • Complete Trenchers Plus employment application, submit to a background / criminal checks, past employment and education • Pass a drug screen and physical required by the Department of Transportation, needed for potential service call travel or training as required • Basic computer skills required for data entry into maintenance systems and research • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job • Must have own tools and toolbox with specialty tools provided by shop • Willingness to work the required schedule at shop, or work at the specific location required for service call • Work authorization - United States (Required) Physical Requirements: The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an applicant to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
