The late Dr. Lawrence Houston was a Clinical Psychologist licensed in NJ & PA, a professor at Rutgers University, a researcher with numerous publications to his credit, and a founding member of the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Black Psychologists. Dr. Houston’s interests included the assessment of minority academic achievement, behavioral therapy, and the assessment of racism. He was fluent in the German language. The most indelible aspect of Dr. Houston’s legacy is that he was a consummate professional and a dear friend and mentor to all who were blessed to have had the opportunity to collaborate with him. Dr. Houston was also very dedicated to grooming Black scholars interested in the field of Psychology and related fields. It is in his honor and because of his committment and contributions that NJABPsi established the “Dr. Lawrence Houston Scholarship.”
All donations and proceeds for this event will go toward the Dr. Lawrence Houston Scholarship Fund which is aimed at providing financial support to up and coming students in their quest to become formidable and conscientious Black Psychologists.
