Save Coastal Wildlife Nonprofit is pleased to announce that we will once again be conducting several seal surveys and winter wildlife watching walks in February around Sandy Hook Bay, NJ.
Harbor and gray seals are frequent visitors to the northern Jersey Shore and can often be seen resting on local beaches at areas called ‘haul-outs’. In addition, there will be opportunities to see many colorful and interesting species of birds that can only be seen during the winter. Join us to observe, photograph, and discover more about the winter wildlife along the Jersey Shore.
THE EVENT IS FREE, BUT SPACE IS LIMITED TO ONLY 25 PEOPLE AND RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.
All end times are approximate. The exact meeting location for each walk around Sandy Hook Bay will be emailed to you the day prior to the walk.
Please be prepared for the weather, i.e., wear warm clothing in layers. Hats, gloves, warm waterproof shoes are recommended, as are cameras and binoculars. We recommend bringing a spotting scope or 8x42 binoculars or something similar. Please DO NOT PARTICIPATE IF YOU ARE SICK OR HAVE ANY COVID-19 SYMPTOMS. If you have been in contact with someone who is sick, please stay home and wait at least the 5 to 10 day quarantine period before coming into contact with others.
