- Maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment and machines using power and hand tools.
- Provides assistance in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and controls.
- Perform basic maintenance and parts replacement on Overhead Cranes and Jib Hoist. This include activities like: Cleaning, lubrication and greasing, fastening, bearing and wheels replacements, wire rope replacements, welding (not beam or crane structure), small mechanical repairs.
- Disassembles equipment to gain access to defective parts, examines parts for wear and breakage.
- Replaces worn or damaged parts.
- Cleans and lubricates equipment and machines.
- A basic understanding of fluid mechanics (hydraulics and pneumatics, and all of the components involved in these processes, such as valves, cylinders, pumps and compressors).
- May also perform some of the duties of a welder, such as arc welding, and oxyacetylene cutting.
