Intro to Stamp Making
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to make your own stamp of choice through a process called block printing.
We’ll provide you with a rubber block, cutter for carving, brayer roller, ink and a notebook to stamp your creation on. We’ll guide you step-by-step in how to transfer your image to the rubber block, carve out your design, and apply ink.
Please bring 2-3 design options that fit within 4 inches wide by 6 inches high. You may also freehand your design. This workshop will take approximately 2 hours.
What is block printing?
Block printing is a printing method that uses hand carved wood, linoleum or rubber blocks to transfer ink onto paper or fabric. The hand carved block serves as a stamp that can be used to create patterns. It is known as one of the oldest forms of all textile printing methods.
