RICHFIELD, MN — Richfield-based Best Buy is among the growing list of corporations vowing to cut off campaign donations to the Republicans in Congress who objected Wednesday to counting all of the electoral votes for the presidential election. Other corporations making similar promises this week include Dow Inc., AT&T Inc., American Express, Airbnb Inc., Hallmark and Mastercard, according to Reuters. It's the latest blowback to the GOP following Wednesday's insurrection at the U.S. Capitol by President Donald Trump supporters. The pro-Trump mob fought with police and forcibly made its way into both chambers of Congress and the offices of senators and representatives. The rioters successfully delayed the ongoing count of the Electoral College; the joint session of Congress eventually resumed its work later that evening and completed the certification early the following morning. Five people died — including an on-duty Capitol Police officer — and more than 80 arrests were made in connection with the riot. Following the chaos, six Republican senators and 121 House Republicans — including Minnesota Reps. Jim Hagedorn and Michelle Fischbach — voted to reject the state electoral votes in Arizona. Fischbach and Hagedorn also objected to counting the electoral votes from Pennsylvania. Minnesota's two other Republicans in Congress and the state's Democrats voted to count all of the electoral votes.
