Jump start 2023 with learning how to row!
This Learn-to-Row Day is designed for adults who would like to learn how to row. No experience is necessary!
Rowing is often called the ultimate team sport. Rowing is for everybody, no matter your age, background or ability. Get involved with our mission to empower all Bay Area residents through rowing.
During our learn-to-row day, you will first start out on land on rowing machines (ergs) to learn the rowing motion. Next, all participants will progress to very stable team boats to learn to row together. Newcomers will be paired with experienced rowers, coxswains (boat steerers) and USRowing certified coaches to ensure safety and camaraderie on and off the water.
We acknowledge the financial, cultural, and exclusionary history of rowing. To this end, part of our mission is to breakdown the barriers to learning how to row and enjoying fitness on the water.
The East Bay Rowing Club is a non-profit organization serving rowers, coxswains, coaches and parents in Oakland and the broader East Bay area. We are based in the Jack London Aquatic Center, which is owned and operated by the City of Oakland.
**With your $5 ticket, light breakfast will be provided after the session.
