Please join ICRI New England for another in-person dinner presentation. Presentation Abstract: The presentation will be an overview of chemical grouting and injection systems with a concentration on repair and waterproofing. A reference of appropriate chemical grouts typically used in leak mitigation for concrete structures, excavated shafts, grout curtain-soil stabilization, crack and joint leak repair. Case histories of grouting at Boston Seaport World Trade Center, the Central Artery “Big Dig” tunnel, World Trade Center in New York 9/11 to 2010, Hartford CSO tunnel and an example of utilizing combination grouting methodologies from the Humboldt Bay Nuclear Power Plant caisson leak repair following the 1989 Earthquake in California. Presenter: Monica Rourke is the Regional Manager for Waterproofing and Injection Systems for Mapei’s Underground Tunneling Team. She has over 25 years of waterproofing experience in both new construction and repair of existing structures. Monica is a Fellow and past National President of ICRI. She is currently chair of ICRI 710.e Grouting Committee and co-author of the ICRI Technical Guideline entitled: “Selection of Grouts to Control Water Leakage through Concrete Structures”. Most recently Monica received the high honor of being the recipient of the 2022 President’s Award for outstanding contributions to ICRI. She has published papers and written articles for several industry trade magazines and organizations. She has been a presenter at ICRI, TRB (Transportation Research Board), the Rilem – 2nd International Symposium- on Adhesion between Polymers and Concrete; the Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) and was inducted into Who’s Who of International Professionals in 1997. She has also served as the 2005-2006 Honorary Chairperson for the State of Connecticut National Business Advisory Board. Monica Rourke is also a member of APWA – American Public Works Association; ASCE -American Society of Civil Engineers, DFI – Deep Foundations Institute, UC of SEM –Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Explorations, Inc. and the FHWA Transportation Research Board’s committee on Tunnels and Underground Structures.
