Workshop TopicsSpecial Education Rights: Become a stronger advocate for your child by understanding your rights under IDEA.and KEY Advocacy Skills: Improve results by applying proven advocacy strategies and skills.About This WorkshopDuring this 2-hour workshop, families will learn the KEYS to unlocking special education and disabilities services for your child from KEY Advocacy, Inc. Founder and Principal Advocate, Teresa Werner. With over 25 years of experience and training in special education teaching and advocacy, she offers the unique expertise of one who has navigated the special education maze as both a parent and an educator. She offers families training in the rights of parents and students under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. In addition, she expertly teaches parents how to apply KEY strategies to improve communication and results. Teresa provides families with valuable insight into the special education process as someone who has been on the inside at one of the nations largest public school districts in the United States. Her mission with KEY Advocacy, Inc. is to give families the same edge she had when advocating for her own children by educating, coaching, and supporting parents through their journey with disability. Prior to the workshop, parents may submit specific questions to be incorporated into the workshop presentation or during the open Q&A following each topic session. About the VenueOur event sponsor, Triple Crown Dentistry located in Middletown, has generously provided The Louisville Center of Excellence (LCE) as our meeting space for this workshop. The facility offers state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment for presentations and is equipped with two restrooms and a full kitchen for use by event coordinators. The meeting space is on the second floor; an elevator is located just inside the building entrance.
