PDMPA is a non-profit organization comprised of minority healthcare providers. We seek to decrease health disparities in underserved communities of the Pee Dee through education, giving and outreach. We desire to increase health literacy and improve access to quality medical care by offering our expertise on the culturally specific healthcare needs of minorities. “Walk to Health!” focuses on diabetes, obesity, heart disease, hypertension, stroke, cancer, healthy living, exercise and nutrition education. We endeavor to bridge the gaps between demand, access and positive outcomes in these areas. This year’s post walk guest speaker is Mr. Henry Wells, director of the South Carolina Cancer Alliance. Mr. Wells oversees the development of the cancer plan for SC which aims to reduce the negative impact of cancer across our state.
