Jan 15, Jan 22, Jan 29, Feb 5, Feb 12 Sundays 4:30 - 6:00 pm Dharma River Manitou Center A lightly guided intuitive movement classes that help students connect to their inner voice and bring it out through form. The speaking body exists in us all, but how do we unlock it? Music and silence will be the medium for finding our own vocabulary to explore the wordless space within. Traveling with time, space, presence, and form, we’ll invite experiences that exist beyond our minds and explore the essence of our aliveness. Zil will share practice tips and guidance from her deep dance and movement meditation background, and Johanna will weave her love of music and embodiment practice throughout. $12 - Single Class *Sliding Scale Available - please call 323.359.0099 Bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing for movement. ---------- Zil Ricker graduated from New York University in 2011 with a B.F.A. in Drama. Since then she has trained with institutions and masters worldwide, including the Moscow Art Theater, clown with Christopher Bayes, Trollwood Performing Arts School, slowdanger, and Tero Saarinen Company. Zil trained with Master Teacher and Butoh artist Sumako Koseki in Japan from 2021-2022, where she simultaneously studied Tai Chi and Chi Gong with Master Sifu Kiyoko Kashiwagi. Johanna Frisch first experienced movement therapy with Body Freedom’s Tarnie Fulloon in 2008. While residing in southern California, she explored intuitive dance and movement with JPZ+, and 5Rhythms teachers Jo Cobbett and Heeraa Sazevich. Johanna participated in Friday Night Funk collective sessions at Pieter Performance, as well as introductory practice in Contact Improvisation. Johanna is trained and certified in mindfulness education, reiki, and kundalini yoga. She is interested in exploring age old health and wellness systems and translating them into relevant, simple practices for daily life, and is especially interested in exploring concepts related to space and well-being. photo: Laurence Winram
