Description

Please join us for the 1st ever, “Rap w/ Ya Rep’ Community Vision Board Party,” hosted by the Minority Voices for Inclusion team via the Livability Lab’s 100 Day Challenge in partnership with 3N1C (Community Engagement Dept. of Thredz). This event will take place Saturday, February 18th from 2:00-5:00 at the GVSU Hub in downtown Muskegon. We will Jump Start this Party with FREE food (Catered by KUNTRY KITCHEN) and Music...Followed by Heartfelt Dialogue aimed at TRUE INFORMED & IMPACTFUL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & STRATEGY! Through data collection and qualitative surveys with residents of Muskegon County, the Livability Lab helped shed more light on many community conditions related to the wellness of our neighbors. The three community conditions our team is focused on include: polarization, lack of trust in government officials, and support not available in all areas. Our aim is to bring elected Leaders of Local/State government, Educators, Justice System, and clergy together with residents within our Black, Indigenous & Latine (BIL) community for difficult and important dialogue, where members of community have a chance to share their ideas, concerns, and questions and feel truly heard. Our end goal is to promote truth telling, healing, and solutions focused actions. In addition to hosting a panel discussion with leaders such as yourselves, we will include time for food, fellowship, and the creation of a community vision board. We are asking for your engagement and vulnerability to promote meaningful connections with the Representatives that serve you. It is our goal to create a safe space with clear rules of engagement to ensure the dialogue remains respectful and productive.
