Description
We are a start-up country cover band (lead guitar & bass) looking for country musicians (drums, another guitar, vocalist). We play “driving” country music mostly from the 70’s to 90’s (“Put Some Drive in Your Country” by Travis Tritt and the band Ramblin Boots on YouTube sum up the sound we’re looking for). On our list are Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, Waylon & Willie, Merle Haggard, Clint Black, Charlie Daniels, Confederate Railroad….). we’re really not interested in playing any rock or pop unless we can give it a good country sound. We usually practice in Pinckneyville on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. This is more about the love of country music than about making a ton of money. Our goal is to play out once or twice a month. We don’t want to tie ourselves up too much and we don’t want to play dive bars. Looking to play festivals, maybe a brewery or decent restaurant occasionally. But we want to get our sound right before we play out. Right now we are looking for a drummer, guitarist and singer immediately and eventually add a second lead/rhythm guitar, fiddle, steel guitar.
YOU: We’re not looking for virtuosos. Just able to play in the pocket and comfortable with a train beat on drums or country rhythms and barre chords on guitar, with nuances of country music and subtleties in a couple of softer songs (think “Neon Moon '' by Brooks & Dunn). If you can do lead and/or background vocals, that would be a definite plus but not required. We’re not kids (ages 40 to 70) but age is not a factor. And we’re also NOT interested in drugs or heavy alcohol.
