Next Narrative Africa, Pixel Ray Studios, and The Feedia will host the first Africa @ Sundance event with the generous support of Axxess and Talent Exchange and Infrastructure. This panel discussion will feature: Patrick Gaspard, President and CEO at the Center for American Progress, Member of the Sundance Institute Board of Directors, and former U.S. Ambassador to South Africa; Ozi Menakaya, Agent and Africa Initiative Lead at CAA; and Oumaima Barid, Lead Actress, Animalia. The event will be moderated by Akunna Cook, CEO and Founder of Next Narrative Africa and former U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs. This timely discussion will explore the growing presence of African film and creatives at the Sundance Film Festival, take stock of efforts to promote collaboration within the global African diaspora in film and television, and inquire about ways to finance and support the infrastructure needed to promote African film and the creative industries on the global stage. We look forward to a lively discussion at Macro Lodge, the premiere destination for talent, filmmakers and changemakers to connect and convene at the Festival and shine a spotlight on diversity, inclusion, and people of color.
