Description

Master piano teacher, Dr Ernest Barretta will be giving a workshop with the focus on helping amateur pianists develop their ability to play fast faster with more reliability. Part of the workshop will also focus on this skill in the music of Chopin so attendees are encouraged to bring a section of a piece by Chopin they are working on for hands on training in this area! NOTE: This workshop is designed principally for intermediate to advanced adult amateur pianists. PianoCraft's 2023 Education Series feature sessions led by artists like concert pianist Brian Ganz and Dr. Ernest Barretta (piano faculty at the Julliard School). Because of limited seating, current education series participants will be prioritized for upcoming sessions before the general public. Dr. Ernest Barretta has performed extensively throughout the United States and abroad, as soloist with the St. Petersburg Symphony in St. Petersburg, Russia, the National Gallery Orchestra of Washington, D.C., and the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra among others. He has appeared in interviews and live performances at XM Radio studios, on WBJC in Baltimore and WFLN in Philadelphia. He has recorded contemporary, chamber and solo repertoire on multiple labels, and his solo recording of works by Bach, Beethoven, and Musorgsky on the MRC label has earned critical acclaim. Barretta is a member of the Allegheny Ensemble and the Musa Amici trio. He has appeared multiple times as soloist at the Seoul Summer Music Festival and Academy in South Korea, where he also served as a piano faculty member. He has performed and given masterclasses at numerous music festivals in China and Taiwan, and has served as a juror at international piano competitions in New York, China, and Taiwan.
