The Statewide Listening Tours are open forum events designed to host employers, professional associations, chambers of commerce, local law enforcement, and community organizations with the purpose of highlighting participation opportunities in the State’s reentry workforce programs for Justice-Involved Individuals (JIIs). Emphasis shall be placed on establishing working relationships and lines of communication with and between potential employers, community administrators, business leaders, and local workforce board administrators in order to gather feedback and develop strategies to bolster employment and assist individuals returning from incarceration to gain meaningful employment upon return to their communities. The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development recognizes JIIs as a population confronting barriers to employment and seeks to increase the employment, retention, and earnings of these individuals through alignment with related services and programs, increasing outreach among local employers and community leaders, the establishment of a robust reentry network and a skilled, flexible hiring pool for employers.
