Description
The Agua Fria National Monument:This sacred land is the largest prehistoric archeological district in the nation, with countless petroglyphs and over 400 well-preserved ruins spanning 2,000 years of human history. Much of this protected land including its unique ecosystem and ruins have not been well studied or mapped, and little is known about its original inhabitants. We will camp near the Agua Fria River, flanked by towering basalt-capped mesas formed by a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago. My intentions for the experience: Saturday: An organized men's circle around the fire will provide an open, nonjudgmental space for authentic conversation & connection. You are Invited to bring an instrument or drum to join in creating music around the fire. The evening will conclude with a guided meditation and calming breath work to prepare for rest. Sunday: The morning will open with a cacao ceremony and guided meditation. Cacao will be provided. Following the meditation, an activating breath work session will be offered with accessibility to a polar plunge for those who are interested. We will conclude with an abbreviated ecstatic dance session to ground a final time prior to our departure. Details: We will enter the district just east of the I-17, about one hour north of Phoenix. If you choose to drive a carpool you will be reimbursed for gas. The two mile hike into our camp is rated easy, relatively flat and involves water crossings and rock-hopping depending on recent weather. Temperatures range 5-10 degrees cooler than Phoenix - seasonally appropriate backpacking gear is recommended for a comfortable night. This particular group will be limited to a handful of men, and this event will be closed when at capacity. Most importantly: This ceremonial experience is all about empowering & expanding a healthy community of men. I am grateful to share my love for meaningful connection and the great outdoors with you.
