Date: Feb 4th, 12pm to 4pm Duration: 4 hours Location: Planet Ant Studio | 11831 Joseph Campau St., Hamtramck MI 48212 Cost: $50 per participant Amount of participants: No Minimum or Maximum About: This workshop gives a brief history of Clowning and introduces participants to the Nouveau Clown Method, a Clown education style that combines methodologies taught by many Clown masters. This method moves beyond the horror or circus Clown motif, and looks at claiming the poetically absurd and playful nature of Clown as a birthright. The Clown is a journalist, reflecting our shared humanity through symbolism and storytelling. This workshop incorporates exercises for those new to Clowning on how to inspire play, emotional shifting, and tapping into your own unique inner clown! Instructor Bio: Rose Carver is an instructor of the Barcelona based Nouveau Clown Institute, and has been Clowning around for six years. She has performed and learned in theaters in France and Barcelona, and currently performs locally as a Clown in her performance art/punk rock band “BURN mARALAGO.” Rose fell in love with the Clown after participating in a masterclass under the close mentorship of American Clown, Jango Edwards. Rose has studied under many other Clown masters including Slava Polunin (Slava’s Snowshow), David Shiner (Cirque Due Soleil), Claudia Cantone (Drassanes Barcelona), and Ira Seidenstein (Ringling Brothers). Rose’s method incorporates multiple varied Clown techniques, curated for beginners, to give a taste of each.
