If you're like me, you've noticed a shift in the type of music people want to hear when they go out now. Bon Jovi, Journey, and Guns N' Roses (while still great music) have seen their day, been overplayed. It's time to bring some new energy to the scene, and I'm trying to get a group together to do that. You don't need to be the greatest guitar player of all time (though we'll certainly take that), any age is fine, and I'm not looking to release the next Nevermind album here. But, you do need to love 90s/00s music, have a good sense of what people WANT to hear (as in, not the unreleased B-sides from a band's demo tape), be willing (and able) to play a variety of styles, and MOST importantly, not be a diva. Don't need that kind of drama in my life.
I've been in a few bands that have played out, so I'm not new to the game. I would prefer others who have played out before as well, but if not, not a deal breaker. I'm not looking for any specific instruments to start. If this ends up as a traditional 4-piece, that's fine. If it's a keys, lead, rhythm, drums, vocals? Also fine. Heck, I'm even fine with violin (Evanescence uses strings alot); or brass (think of Cake and Mighty Mighty Bosstones). Just looking for a great sound, however we can get there.
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, hit me up with a reply. In your message, I just ask that you answer a couple things:
1) Name your top 3 favorite artists from either the 90s or 2000s
2) Name the artists that you consider the BIGGEST from the 90s or 2000s. Like when you think of those decades, who comes to mind first (whether they are your favorites or not)
These 2 pieces of info will go a long way to identifying if we're on the same page for the type of music to play.
