Welcome to Taylor University's Envision Film Festival 2023. The festival will be held with special guests joining from the entertainment industry. All events are free but require registration. The evening of March 9th is especially for prospective students and their parents. Registration begins at 5pm with supper at 5:30 and a Taylor student showcase at 6:30. If you arrive later, join us for ice cream at 7:30pm in the Rupp building, where we can put a Steadicam camera support rig on you. You’ll meet your overnight host about 8:30pm. On March 10th, during the day, we’ll feature guests from the entertainment industry. The day starts with an informational session and tour of Taylor’s film and media program followed by Taylor’s chapel service. Throughout the day, there will be film and television workshops hosted by our entertainment industry guests. A campus tour will also be available. On the evening of March 10th, the highlight of the festival is when we show the best work of the year by Taylor students in Rediger Auditorium at 7pmw. That program will include the winning film from our high school competition and will be streamed live for family members who’d like to join virtually. The link will be added to the homepage of this website as the event date approaches. On March 11th, there’s a repeat of the informational session and tour of Taylor’s film and media program. Afterwards, we’ll host you for brunch and watch some of the competition entries. The brunch puts the spotlight on prospective students who entered our film or screenplay competitions, though all prospective students and parents are urged to attend, even if you did not enter the competition. The whole festival wraps by 12pm. Stay overnight and eat free High school students are welcome to join us for one or two overnights on campus. We will set you up with a host who is a Film & Media Production major unless you tell us you’d like to stay with someone else or if you’d prefer stay off-campus. All meals are provided by Taylor for the visiting student. Families can purchase meals at the Dining Commons or in the Boren Campus Center where a food court features Chick-Fil-A among other options. Festival Goals The Envision Film Festival honors aspiring filmmakers whose visual storytelling explores the range of human experience with hopeful vision, artistry, truthfulness and integrity. · To provide educational experiences for Taylor and high school filmmakers by means of interaction with industry professionals. · To honor Taylor University filmmakers & films, providing a venue for public exhibition of their work. · To highlight the significance of film as a medium that can express beauty, truth and goodness, prompting meaningful dialogue.
