It's Barolo season, and there is no better time to taste stunning Nebbiolo productions than when producers come in to share their new releases with you! Join us on Saturday, February 4th as two of the region’s best producers - Silvia Altare (Elio Altare) and Chiara Boschis (E Pira) come to our Port Chester store to taste with you! Elio Altare is a pioneer of innovation and led the charge for the modernization of Barolo, introducing new winemaking and aging techniques such as implementing shorter fermentation times and using French oak to age Nebbiolo received much criticism. Fast forward 25+ years and the father-daughter team of Elio and Silvia Altare has become one of the most prolific producers of our time. As Antonio Galloni notes: “[Their] wines have established a track record of virtually unparalleled brilliance”. Chiara Boschis of E. Pira has the honor of the first female winemaker in the Langhe, no small feat for a region driven by traditional values. But it’s her wines that set her apart: “Year in, year out Chiara Boschis quietly makes some of the most compelling wines in Barolo without getting either the attention or recognition of some of her neighbors” -Antonio Galloni And there’s even more!
