Description

Caroline is a native Austinite and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Journalism. After graduating, Caroline served as the Tour Director for a Ugandan children's choir. Following the conclusion of the choir's tour around the United States, Caroline moved to New York City and worked for six years at Robin Hood, New York City's largest poverty-fighting organization. Caroline focused on development, educating young people and donor families on the issues of poverty and Robin Hood's approach to grantmaking and strengthening Robin Hood partners through governance and board placement. Caroline moved back to her hometown in 2016, where she became the Executive Director of A Legacy of Giving. Caroline led Legacy through a collaborative acquisition process, which resulted in Legacy becoming part of the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life, part of U.T.'s Moody College of Communication. Caroline has been the Director of Development and Communications for Friends of the Children Austin (Friends Austin) since 2018. Friends Austin's mission is to break the cycle of generational poverty through professional, salaried, full-time mentorship. Caroline volunteered with iMentor in New York City and serves as a Board of Directors member and Development Committee Co-Chair of Mainspring Schools. The speaker's career has been in the nonprofit sector, but she will speak to why having a sense of mission is key regardless of your specific industry. It's never too early to incorporate service into your life and career - you don't have to wait until you have reached a certain age or stage. Focusing on your mission and finding ways to give back and make a positive social impact will support a more fulfilling, fun, and abundant career.
