Description

www.projectchange.info - Please Register on the site! Project Change is a non-profit organization started by Cash Thomas, a kind, giving, and inspiring 10-year-old Lake Norman resident. Cash was diagnosed with Craniofacial Fibrous Dysplasia in June of 2021. CFD is a rare bone disease which affects the bones in the left side of Cash’s face. As he continues to grow, these affected bones grow at a different rate than the other side of his face which causes facial changes and medical concerns such as potential deafness and blindness on this side of his face as well as orthodontic care. Cash began a non-profit organization called Project Change to help raise awareness about his disease and to help other children in the United States with this disease. He decided on the name Project Change because CHANGE represents the facial changes that Cash and other children endure during this disease as the diseased bone grows unpredictably and there is no cure. The current management is surgery and only when medically necessary as operations tend to disturb the FD and cause it to become more aggressive. Project Change also represents the CHANGE in people’s perception of children and adults who have this disease or any other disease by creating community awareness and education. It represents our ability to give back as a community, empower hope, inspire others, come together for a cause. Project Change creates a standard of acceptance, love, and hope for all, regardless of circumstance, disease, or any other uncontrolled influence. Our goals at Project Change are to: Educate the community on the disease to help raise awareness and support. Assist families in paying for medical expenses for children requiring surgery or therapy if needed. Insurance does not cover congenital anomalies for orthodontic care and up to 4% of all children have a congenital anomaly requiring braces. Take several children with fibrous dysplasia on a vacation together 1 time a year so they can share their journey together and look forward to a positive experience. Donate to a research foundation for fibrous dysplasia. i Project Change will host many events throughout our community to raise awareness and donations to this charitable cause. Our first event is Saturday, April 22nd at 9 a.m. in Mooresville, NC. We will host a Fun Run 5K, have a DJ, food truck, face painting and more.
