The Woman’s Exchange, in partnership with The Lincolnville Museum & Cultural Center, The St. Johns Cultural Council and the St. Augustine Historical Society are pleased to invite you for to meet Anna Murray Douglass, Frederick Douglass's wife of 44 years, through our special exhibit, lunch and lecture in our historic garden. Anna was more than just a wife. An abolitionist, emancipator and businesswoman in the mid-19th century, Anna’s legacy is an often overlooked but a very important part of American history. Please join us for this educational program and exhibit at the Peña-Peck House to learn more about her life, impact and legacy. The program will be centered around Anna Murray Douglass's story and inspired wedding dress, with guest speakers Lana Turner, Chair of The Literary Society of New York City and Cassandra Bromfield, accomplished New York designer. Learn how the power of stitchery got Frederick Douglass to freedom and how Anna’s shadow promoted his fame and enduring legacy. Experience the plum satin dress and imagine the history outside the walls of the Historic Peña-Peck House situated on historic St. George Street, next to the Cathedral. Tickets are $20 plus tax & Eventbrite Fees. Included in your ticket price will be a buffet luncheon. Drinks, including beer & wine will be available for a small cash donation. Seating is extremely limited, advance ticket purchase is required, tickets are non-refundable. Individual seats are available as well as entire tables of 8 guests.
