About this event Jim McBride is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. He is a CMA Award winning, Grammy nominated native of Huntsville, AL. McBride is a Lee High School graduate and former USPS letter carrier. “Bet Your Heart On Me” by Johnny Lee, was McBride’s first #1, coming soon after moving to Nashville. In 1983, his song “Dixie Boy”, was included on the CMA Album of the Year “The Closer You Get” by Alabama. The 1980’s 1990s and the first decade of the new millennium brought dozens of chart singles and album cuts. In 1987, McBride began writing with a yet to be discovered Alan Jackson. Their collaboration resulted in 4 #1 songs and several album cuts. “In 1994, “Chattahoochee” was named CMA Song of the Year. McBride has receive numerous awards including 14 ASCAP and BMI Awards. In 1995, McBride received the Creators Award from the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. Jim McBride songs have been recorded by 22 members of the Country Music Hall of Fame. Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Reba McEntire, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Jerry Lee Lewis, Waylon Jennings, Luke Bryan, Toby Keith, Trace Adkins and Kris Kristofferson are a few of the major stars who who have recorded his songs. McBride has had numerous hits in Bluegrass and Southern Gospel and his songs are on over 70 million records sold. Jim Parker Jim has been involved in Rock n Roll, POP, Country and Bluegrass since1961 through today. He moved to Los Angeles in ’66 with his Amarillo, Texas Band, The Kitchen Cinq after signing with Lee Hazelwood. After several albums, playing popular clubs like Gazaris; The Whiskey A GOGO The Cheetah and retired from Bands he moved to northern California, San Mateo area. Recruited to open for Texas Rock band, Baby eventually led him to move to Nashville in 1975 where he met Hall of Fame songwriter John Anderson and toured with "Dave and Sugar. Tired of touring, Jim moved to Madison Alabama and opened his Real Estate company in 1985. Still in the Real Estate industry along with the music business in the Von Braun Center Playhouse where he has been creator, producer, and host of Jim Parker’s Songwriters Series in Huntsville, Alabama since 2005. In 1979, Jim won an ASCAP award with co-writers Michael Garvin and John Anderson on John's first single to chart on Billboard with his Warner Brothers Release, "I've Got A Feelin'". He is also Co-writer on "Chicken Truck" recorded by John Anderson (Top 8 in1980.) Another J. A. co-write was "Bigger Hands" recorded and released in 2009 and as the title cut of the album. From Country to Bluegrass with #1 co-writer of “Better With Time” by Billy Droze in 2017. Jim's songs, "Back to The Country", "Girls Cars and Guitars" have appeared in several televisions shows and a movie, including the, currently popular, NETFLIX documentary, "DB Cooper, Where are you?" Jim is a lifetime member of both Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) and Global Songwriters Connection (GSC).
