Description

We are looking for an estimator who will be responsible for generating accurate and complete estimated material for decks, screen porches as well as generating labor quotes. The estimator is responsible for interpreting the contract and or ensuring that the quantity, size, color, and any other scope of work requirements have been accounted for so that PWHI knows what a project will cost well ahead of the project installation. The estimator will also assist in researching and advising on cost-saving methods including suggesting items be put into PWHI inventory, ordering items online in bulk, etc. Lastly, the estimator will contribute to a shared excel sheet or database to report on estimate accuracy for training and review purposes. The estimator is a key position that is integral to the company’s efficiency in many key areas including profitability, time spent on a job site, customer, crew satisfaction and more. Duties • Complete Estimates for jobs using deck plans, contracts, PPI documents, pictures, and any other available resources. • Verify that the most recently approved plans and contract have been used to generate the estimate. • Ensure that estimates and material lists are accurate to the plans provided within a 2% variance. Ensure that a job’s actual cost is no more than 2% different above or below the estimated amount. • Pass estimates to Operations Manager that falls outside the previously provided range. • Signs off on all estimates that are scheduled prior to being sent to the vendor by the Purchasing Manager. • Update estimates on projects if costs have changed from the original estimate to the date of order submission. • Track actual cost vs. estimate as the project develops to minimize the double ordering of components as well as labor cost thus keeping job costs in shape. • Review material requirements to advise whether is more cost-effective to purchase items individually per project or add an item to PWHI inventory. Requirements • Deck/enclosure materials experience • Experience or education in decks/enclosures required. • Ability to read and understand deck/enclosure drawings required & will be tested. • The ideal candidate will be well organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
