Description
Greetings internet strangers. Hope all is well. I write to you today having pondered the following question for some time now: "Dead & Co. is done after this summer, Jerry has been dead longer than I've been alive... who is going to carry the torch?" Well, probably not me, or you, or us for that matter. But wouldn't it be something to get up on stage and share the music we love with others? Maybe get some new brothers and sisters on the bus in the process? All of this is to say, I'm trying to get the band together. For some background about me, I've been playing guitar since I was 12 (I'm 26 now). I would never claim to be "good" as there are too many people out there who can absolutely RIP it. But I can play reasonably competently. Major influences on my playing: Jerry, B.B., Dickey, Joe Walsh, Keith. Started out learning the blues, but the past few years I've spent many hours playing along to Veneta '72 and Cornell '77 (thank you Michael Palmisano of YouTube). Should anyone take me up on this endeavor, I don't envision a Jerry/ Bob dynamic necessarily, kind of more a Duane / Dickey thing if that makes any sense. Currently running my ol' reliable Mexican Strat through my '71 Twin Reverb Silverface (the one with the stupid "master volume" knob, but it still sounds awesome). I also grew up in a family where my old man was the choir leader in our church, and my momma routinely was asked to sing at people's weddings (and funerals? she never really enjoyed that). They also had a cover band with their friends which I occasionally played with as their rhythm player when I was ~15. I certainly am no Pavarotti, but I can make a joyful noise with my voice having been forced to do 4-part harmonies in the family van to Hall & Oates and the Beatles growing up. Music is in my blood, and I can't keep playing by myself anymore. This is where you come in. This may be the path forward for you if: - you love and appreciate good music whatever genre it is found in, but your home base is the Dead, the blues, you know the vibe... - you would enjoy performing a variety of songs such as (https://youtu.be/qa5ctzEyWZU) (https://youtu.be/b0Upk41P7aw) (https://youtu.be/lpwtIa5sYSc) (https://youtu.be/pZYwihuiQYs) (not an exhaustive list) - you can play an instrument competently and with some f e e l - you can sing well enough as to not offend others with the quality of your voice - you're not a crazy person or a felon - you have your own equipment - you're not in it for a living or for the money, but simply for the joy it might bring - you can pick up material pretty quickly and can jam A few disclaimers: * I currently live in a home without any space for jamming, but will be moving in the summer * I work full-time in a demanding job and that will always take priority * I have no "demos" or other crap that many of the other posters here demand in order to seek an audience with them, and I could not care less whether you do or not * I have no delusions of grandeur -- just looking to see if there are any like-minded people out there who want to jam and see if we can score some gigs on the weekends If my ramblings make any sense to you; if you have been to Herb's and thought "man that looks fun;" if you want to bring some good vibrations into the world -- hit me up.
