Description

If you identify as BIPOC, fat, and/or queer, you and the ones you love are welcome to join us in celebrating love in its many forms. You might have heard the phrase “you can’t love others if you don’t love yourself first” from well-meaning friends and family. But brains and hearts aren’t linear. You can practice loving yourself by receiving love from others at the same time. It's us. We'll be showering you with love and by the end of the event, you will have experienced love in many forms!. Love is accepting everything, beautiful and absurd. From your bodacious booty to your most pungent farts. Expect humor, love, silliness and seriousness, and a damn good time with a couple weirdos who regularly hold space for healing + tenderness, know how to navigate all your ninja moves to block love from coming into your heart, and bring some people who need a space to celebrate themselves too! Activities We will begin with a mindfulness practice + non-cringey ice breaker to meet some beautiful new people, center ourselves, and bring our attention to the present. Other activities will include: A powerful guided meditation from Juniper to tap into the Love that's always available for us. Music and movement with permission (and encouragement!) to take up as much space as we want in the bodies that we have. Exploring the different love languages and noticing the sensations of giving + receiving the love we desire. Engaging all five senses, and allowing ourselves to savor pleasure. A sensual offering to yourself, in the form of a warm, nourishing beverage. Please notify us in advance if you have any allergies or sensitivities we need to be aware of. What to bring Yoga mats, blankets, and cushions will be available for floor seating. Dress comfortably. Please bring whatever comfort items you may need to feel present and at ease in the space. Accessibility To make this event accessible for more people, we have included a limited number of sliding scale tickets. Please only buy this ticket if you are in need of financial assistance. Thanks! About us Your facilitators for celebrating love in all its forms are Juniper Wong LICSW and Aimee Amodio LICSW. Fun fact: they attended the same grad school at the same time but didn’t meet until after graduation. Aimee (they/she) is a fat, queer, nonbinary clinical social worker who works primarily with the LGBTQIA+ community. They are an outstanding cuddler and have a laugh you can hear across an auditorium. They are currently taking the brave step of looking for a cuddle buddy on Feeld ;) Juniper (she/her) is a Chinese-American clinical social worker specializing in attachment, relationships, and intimacy. She is also an award-winning storyteller, stand-up comedian, and viral reel maker. You can find out more about her practice at www.juniperwong.com or follow her on Instagram @iamjuniperwong. The Location: We will be celebrating at Parallel 45 in the moon room! Parallel 45 is a serene, welcoming, inclusive, accessible space with free on-site parking. Please remove shoes when you arrive and store them and other personal items in the cubbies provided. This a COVID-19 conscious event; the studio has ample room for social distancing and masks are welcome. Please consider what helps you feel most comfortable and keeps our community safe.
