Labor and Employment Law & Insurance Updates for Employers Our annual labor and employment seminar will cover developments and legal updates that every employer should know about. This will include a discussion of recently signed bills and legislative changes, case law developments, and new rules adopted by regulatory agencies. Among the topics we will cover are the steady increase in wage-hour and Private Attorney General Act (PAGA) claims, new workplace issues, the changes to California’s bereavement leave, paid sick leave, family and medical leave, overtime, exemption, and employment discriminations laws, such as the new protections for off-duty cannabis use, reproductive choices, and pay transparency incorporated within state statutes. Topics will also address recent appellate cases examining the legality of time rounding practices, the use of arbitration agreements to mitigate PAGA, wage-hour and class action lawsuits, the obligation to pay employees for time spent booting up computers, and the unique method of properly calculating overtime pay under California law. Also, keys to getting the most cost-effective insurance coverage and the top ways to lower your risk and exposure while protecting your profits. The fee to attend is $40 per person.
