Description

For decades, the Bell Laboratories’ headquarters in Murray Hill, NJ produced some of the greatest innovations and innovators of the 20th century. Radio astronomy, the transistor, the laser, information theory, and the photovoltaic cell (to name a few), were all developed by researchers working at Bell Labs. Morven is pleased to offer a unique opportunity to tour the Nokia Bell Labs global headquarters in Murray Hill with Nokia Corporate Archivist and Historian Ed Eckert. The tour will take attendees through the Bell Labs Technology Showcase, featuring the first transistor (invented at the site in 1945) and an original Telstar satellite, and will conclude in the Nokia Bell Labs Archives for a special, behind-the-scenes look at technology history. Attendees are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from Nokia Bell Labs. Lunch is not provided. Capacity is limited to 25 people so act fast to reserve your spot! Details about parking and where to meet to join the tour will be provided via email prior to the tour date. Want to learn even more about the history of Bell Labs and the people and innovations that changed our modern world? Visit Morven’s current exhibition, Ma Bell: The Mother of Invention in New Jersey, before it closes on Sunday, March 5, 2023. Funding for the Ma Bell exhibition has been provided in part by, AT&T Services Inc., The Hess Foundation, Liza and Schuyler Morehouse, The Astle-Alpaugh Family Foundation, Richard Lounsbery Foundation, Lisa and Michael Ullmann, Fulton Bank, and Church & Dwight Co., Inc.
